In Response To: Re: Halo 4 and Gen Y's libido (Cody Miller) : Why do you think the MC wonders in the end if he's a machine? You know, the : part you hate so much. He does so because his action hero story didn't : play out. He's having an identity crisis. I think there's certainly some parallels to be drawn here and an interesting discussion to be had. However, at the end of the day you do have to step back and realize that the correlation between the two data points might not be as direct as you imagine. If Cortana's AI weren't the image of a sexy woman, I would also add that maybe Halo reinforces the idea that men (although I think this can apply equally to all people) should look past exterior appearances to be with the person as an intellectual. Cortana and Master Chief have no physical relationship to speak of. If there's any love interest, it's not because Chief wants to be with her in a physical sense. It's because he's compatible with her emotionally and intellectually, which should be the primary driving forces of a relationship. So isn't that teaching people to look past appearances and be with a person for who they are? That's kind of the exact opposite of what you proposed. So really, when you're talking about points like this, it comes down to personal interpretation. In some ways, you could say Halo breaks the formula of the traditional "hero gets girl" mold, simply because at the end of the day, Chief will never really be with Cortana. He's infinitely doomed to failure, if that's the angle we're looking at his story from.
