In Response To: Re: My H4 review - Campaign (Gameplay and Story) (Bry) : Let's keep things in perspective here, rather than using the equally old : trick of saying that a person who feels others are grumbling is : denigrating them and their concerns. Well, you have to admit that this unlikely to fall on honestly receptive ears. If people didn't think it was meaningful enough to call attention to, would they be calling attention to it? : That's what kicked me off. To be clear, we're talking about 2 second
Suppose you're listening to Beethoven's 9th in two ways. First, suppose that prior to its beginning, a small rogue group of violinists delay the performance by holding some bizarre high-pitched note loudly for 10 seconds. Next, suppose that during the performance, this rogue group of violinists play a bizarre high-pitched note loudly for 1 second, ten times evenly spaced through the symphony. Which of these does more damage to the experience? You keep making a point of how brief these moments are as if that somehow makes their game flow impact infinitely less relevant, as though it's equivalent to an added pre-level loading screen. Do you also believe that an annoyingly stuttering framerate has a negligible effect on the experience as long as the total time of the stutters doesn't add up to a whole lot? : Nor that people would feel this way about the two QTE sequences in the game. Even if one of them is the game's climax? The big moment that everything builds to, falls away from, and is just generally wrapped around? (For the record, I don't have any especially strong opinions about the choice of QTE for Halo 4's finale, aside from perhaps the choice to include them in the game at all. Given that they're there, I don't find it to have been a terrible decision.) : If something like these animations really bothered me, I'd have to reflect on
Wow.
