Yeah, MS sign the pay cheques after all. 343i is much more a part of the parent company than Bungie ever were, and will follow the company line much more closely (I'm sure we remember a particularly upset message when Bungie's big reveal plans where cancelled at the last moment a few years ago for a 'dedicated Halo event' which never happened. They didn't exactly bite their tongues).

Now I'll just say, I'm not upset that people got the maps for free (LE customer, I got plenty of other content besides the War Games pass).
In fact, it was very beneficial last night!!! :D
Nor was I upset about having to wait longer to access them (par for the course and something I expected).

Now I'm not really upset about this bit of PR spin/backtracking/cover up either, but it does seem really quite silly and under the circumstances is forming a significant deal of mistrust.

Besides that, this is pretty much guaranteed to cause further strife when people suddenly find their access to the maps is revoked in a week. Maybe that is partly an issue with entitlement as GB1 tried to say, but giving someone something and saying you'll be taking it away after the fact is going to cause confusion.

This all comes quite soon after the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 pre-order 'scandal' as well.

You know, where pre-ordering gained you access to an extra exclusive map, Nuketown 2025.
Then a mere week after release, it was removed from matchmaking with an announcement that its presence was only ever temporary and it would only be brought back for special events, etc.
That decision was quite quickly turned around.
