In Response To: Re: Infinity Multiplayer thoughts *no sp* (Cody Miller) : That seems fine to me. NASCAR does it all the time. You want to be in 2nd on : that final lap so you can slip past the lead car and win. It's just a : different strategy than intended, and I can't see that making the game no : fun, especially if others play with this strategy too. In races, being in the lead has a natural sort of drag on it: you have no-one ahead of you to set the pace so you have to expend extra effort doing that yourself, and you can't see the position of the field behind you as easily so you can't position yourself as well on the lanes for opportunities to overtake etc. That can make for an intense final lap (or few laps) for spectators, but I do rather think it can slow down the rest of match and I'm not sure that's as good for something that's just for playing. The person in first place in Regicide doesn't really want to expend too much effort trying to get ahead because that'll just make them a bigger target with a bigger bounty so other players can catch up more easily. It just seems a really weird and fake drag applied to first place. In Race, you're still literally behind the person if someone overtakes you and can try to go faster, and there is a known distance / time to the end. But in Regicide someone can jump into the lead by killing you and taking your large bounty, and then get a couple of very quick, easily won kills and end the game, giving you no chance to catch up. I don't really like it :/
