Easy. :) I would : like to draw your attention to three things: 1.) The lower left-hand : corner of the right chestplate of the center SPARTAN (you should see : "117" in white letters). : 2.) The upper right-hand corner of the left chestplate of the leftmost : SPARTAN (you should see Kelly-087's "rabbit" image in white). : And, most important of all, 3.) The lower left-hand corner of the rightmost : SPARTAN's right chestplate (you should see "034" in white : letters). : 0-3-4. As in Sam-034. Who died in the armor that they were all first issued. : While I can't be sure that what I'm about to say is still current, this image : is the very first image that 343 Industries employees see when they enter : the building where they work (if they work at Bungie's old digs). It's on : a giant painting-type-thing that you see when you open the door and look : straight ahead. : I'm not making this stuff up! I swear! They're wearing the same armor on the cover of First Strike, by which point in the fiction they've all been issued Mark V or early Mark VI. And the original cover of Fall of Reach depicted them in Mark V. While they're good art, book covers aren't material for argument. All of these visions of the Mark IV differ from Halsey's technical diagram found in her journal.
