Yeah, like the map says, the lake floor slowly drops off into an abyss, but it's way out there, like the wall in Silent Cartographer's surrounding waters. There's enough explorable area there to not ruin immersion. But at some point you have to say "Okay, I'm 200 feet below the surface... I don't think I'm supposed to be here." :) I've definitely tried to think about how the maps in each level can cater to immersive boundaries instead of 'return to battlefield' or instant-kill barriers (which is especially difficult with jetpacks).
