It was in the free samples that 343i released to the press, and those were at the beginning of the book-- at least where it says Chakas became some kind of Forerunner construct, I didn't know he was 343 GS-- so even though it maybe should be a big reveal, he only spoiled a few minutes of reading that you could've (mostly?) done for free. I agree that spoilers should be handled delicately though.
