In Response To: Re: Cortana sighted in the trailer? (VAVA Mk2) : Has anyone else here thought that since the Forerunners could turn a human : into an AI (Chakas to SPOILER : 343 GS) they could turn an AI, based on a cloned human brain (Cortana) into a : person (granted they have a body to put the mind into)? I know this is all : Pinochio, but what if to further develop the "love interest" of : the Chief, as well as show a more human and emotional side to him, the : Forerunners and/or their technology we encounter in Halo 4 turns her into : the human this girl is the model for and we saw in game model for, but : with Jen Taylor still voicing her? Thoughts? Yeah. As if I haven't seen enough of that in fanfiction. And I'd have to say... no. A human body would be a step backwards for Cortana. As an AI, she's beyond human capability. She's able to complement the Master Chief's strengths, work with him when, as he noted himself, ordinary humans wouldn't even be able to keep up. This is a popular trope in fanfiction, and I think the usual explanation for why AIs want to be Human is that they're not satisfied with their lifespans, and I can't really see that. They can accomplish so much in seven years, probably much more than a human can with a normal lifespan. A candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and AIs burn very brightly indeed. So, we've mentioned that this trope is popular in fanfiction? I can't understand why.
I would like her to have a more proactive role in the upcoming trilogy, and I'm not sure that would result from her gaining a human body, be it clone, corpsicle, or ridiculously realistic gynoid.
