Not sure how much is actually 'obsolete'. The only thing that appears to have been phased out is the DMR, and I'm not sure if the Army completely did away with that. Armor abilities... yeah, I'll agree that they're probably limited to special forces. The Falcon, though... don't think it's been rendered obsolete, but I can't see it being deployed on a Forerunner artifact. Anyhow, I'm of the opinion that Glasslands was a good book with two flaws. It wasn't well-written as a stand-alone story, which means that we'll have to wait for the sequels for character arcs to be less infuriating. Additionally, 343i didn't do a good enough job of editing Traviss's work, which means that things like "dollars" crept in, and a planet-sized mass of Sentinels disappeared overnight. Still, better than "The Cole Protocol".
