I don't know the reception you are talking about, I know it's not everyone's favorite but I doubt it is the least favorite. And as for Karen Travis's attitude I also don't know what ou mean, I have met her before in person and she was a lovely person, we chatted for about 15 minutes about gears of war.
No spoilers but the covenant war is FAR from over, merely he theater in which it is being fought has changed.
