Why should we care? Showing us a : bunch of stuff flying around doesn't automatically make the audience care : about what's going on. We've seen this kind of military op thing done so : many times before. What makes yours stand out? If your answer is anything : but "interesting characters" or "compelling story," : you need to rethink it. I hear ya. It's actually all geared towards those things as a whole (the project is around 30 minutes) - this was a minute and a half of expository dialogue setting up the scenario for the second episode. Where as most machinimas set in the Halo universe make the Spartans seem fully integrated with the UNSC, this project does not. Basically this mini-series follows one Spartan as he finds himself becoming less of a "human" and more of tool for the UNSC. Conflict arises not only from the Covenant, but from tensions within the UNSC; ODSTs harboring resentment towards Spartans and such. Hopefully it turns out well.
