In Response To: Favorite Halo comic and why. (Postmortem) : Particularly interested in which visual style people prefer. Official-wise, Second Sunrise Over New Mombasa. I know I'm a visual-canon stickler... but man, even though it had crazy style, everything about that comic just really impacted me. It was almost reasonable seeing the Covenant depicted in such a strange and different way, because it was the first we'd ever seen Halo from a civilian's eyes. It was foreign and really alien and they were on OUR land. But we also got to see civilians uniting with the UNSC to defend Earth, the underbelly of ONI's propaganda, inspiring bravery and self-sacrifice, and an extremely important revelation in the main Halo's story: the Ark is on Earth. It's also a great read before playing the ODST campaign. But if you're looking only for my favorite visual style, I may not say Second Sunrise - because it's the 'whole' that makes that one brilliant, not the style. Since the HGN, I'd probably say Helljumpers has been my favorite. The art was nice and fresh, while still working with the Halo universe, and I enjoyed it actually tying into already established characters. The motion comics have been great, and ONE and MoreFrames are capturing the Halo visuals in a great way. I just personally have a hard time paying attention to ANY motion comic, so they will always rank below a traditional comic. Now if they did release them in print... Unofficial-wise... take a wild guess. :P
