I felt that story failed to capture the : stoicism of the Spartan II's. That same feel that Nylund does oh so well. Yeah, I was never particular fond of that stoicism or Nylund's portrayal of the Spartans. Though I think he did a great job with Fred in Ghosts of Onyx. : I try to be. But the fanboy in me rears his ugly head anytime I see something : that I feel isn't to my (oft imagined) exacting standards. Basically, I've learnt to separate my ideas of what Halo is from what is established officially. I have my own Bry-version of the Halo Universe, with a folder full of my own ideas, concepts and fiction, especially for the post-Halo 3 universe, that I generally keep to myself. I try to keep it as close to the official data as I can, so its still fairly fluid, but I will discard things that don't feel right to me. Its something I started doing after the Cole Protocol was released, since I was rather unhappy with how that portrayed the Sangheili and especially Thel's character. It was all a bit too extreme for me to reconcile with the Arbiter as we see him in Halo 2 and 3. : O! O! Spoilers! Heh, let me cut you off on that one, I've been really looking : forward to Cryptum as Greg Bear is one of my favorite sci-fi authors. To : see him doing work with one of my favorite sci-fi universes quite : literally cause me to squee. But alas, I've yet to be able to pick up a : copy from my local book-facilitator. But I'm glad to hear of tie-ins! : That's exciting news! You're lucky I decided to delete out what the tie-ins actually were then. =p
