Another way at looking at the numbers | |

In Response To: May 2011 REACH Population Report (DEEP NNN) To put the numbers in perspective: Halo 3 at this time (2007) was only going up against Call of Duty 4 in terms of major 360 online FPSes. CoD4 has just gotten it's first and only map pack, while Halo 3 has a free one (Heroic) and has just released Legendary. Call of Duty 2 and 3 were non-factors at this point due to limited post-ship support (the CoD "boom" started with CoD4) Halo Reach is now directly competing with 4 active Call of Duties simultaneously (WaW, BLOPs, MW2 and 4) and another Halo title in Halo 3. It has two map packs, including one made by the same developer that made maps for the latest CoD game! Throw Battlefield BC2 into the mix.. On average, the newest entry into the mainline Halo franchise only lost 100,000 unique users per day to 6 active competitors, and the 3 biggest ones are two Call of Duty games and a Battlefield game.. or in other words, each game only peeled off about 2,000-3,000 people from the Halo player base and convinced them to play THEIR game exclusively.
