: Forgot to add: I do agree with you that the comics should be relevant. Maybe
: it's because of the fact that the writing/art team changes every series.
: Maybe there should be a permanent team involved? Frankie....leave Marvel
: and write them yourself. Please. Heck, get Nylund to write them.

And I'm interested as well, if that's not apparent yet. :P

: Would the situation be different if they went to IDW? 100,000 copies is a
: good number for IDW. I'm sure they would of liked those kind of sales.
: Even Dark Horse.

That's a good point, I don't know!

: Example of great canon comics: The Firefly comics are superb because they
: tell stories directly to their audience/fanbase. They don't dumb down the
: story. Plus, the most recent comic told Shepard's story and I was
: delighted to read that. Brilliant fan service. This is what I want from
: Halo comics.

I agree with you. The Firefly comics and the Mass Effect comics have done a great job, I think. The latest ME comic, Revelations (isn't it?) has a great artist who really has researched what the universe looks like and nails all the vehicle designs, costume designs, etc. Plus all the stuff he makes up seems to fit in with the existing material.

: I don't know that 343i has the confidence yet to do this with the series. I'd
: love for Frankie to drop in and say why the comics aren't directly tied in
: with game releases or the above issues raised.
: Helljumpers? They could of told a better story as a lead-in to ODST.
: Something that led directly into the opening cutscene at least. Imagine if
: Sadie's Story was a comic before you played ODST? Would have blown my
: mind....

: -Hedge.

I liked Helljumpers and I'm a big fan of Peter David... but yeah... it was strange because it DID flesh out Dutch and Romeo and delved into their relationship... and yet at the same time, when I first played ODST I wasn't even sure Dutch had even known Romeo that long. It would have made more sense to me to have used Mickey instead of Romeo for his role. Just my two cents.

Also, with Helljumpers and Bloodline following each other, I started to feel a little saturated with "mysterious circumstances leads a group of UNSC to an unknown Forerunner A.I." plot - but that's oversimplifying it and caused from reading one right after another. :P
