I see. God of War-ish, then? Soften the boss up in actual gameplay and finish it off in cutscenes (well, GoW had quick-time events, but we all know it doesn't fit in Halo, right?).

Could work. As long as it wasn't too Legend of Zelda-ish (run, hide, do something specific to be able to go for the hard blow, rinse, repeat).
