In Response To: Re: More Halo discussion from The Escapist (scarab) : The blue eyes thing is amusing, the drugs turned Carter into an Aryan. :-) Or it has something to do with his armor color. *shrugs* The whole idea of socialist/nationalist symbolism is dismissible because of a single point already raised - the Covenant attacked humanity, not the other way around. The simplest explanation for the monolithic military force is that military forces are typically monolithic. Sure, that leaves room to question why the Covenant isn't, but it's already been pointed out that they're a multi-species army. Surely if we recruited badgers to fight along side the Spartans, you'd be more readily able to distinguish our pawns from our knights. Even then, perhaps a simpler explanation for a varietal alien force is that it makes for more interesting play, or offers visual cues as to expected enemy behavior. I think I'll just cut it here; the point is pretty obvious I think.
