So while both : games are supposed to be part of the same cannon, I consider them to be : in parallel universes that are very similar, but still different. : Bungie rewrites the Halo history a little with each game. They don't do it so : much that things become unrecognizable, but enough that I no longer : consider the phrase "Halo cannon" to have much meaning. : And to be honest, it doesn't bother me all that much anymore. I agree that a : consistent universe is preferable and can see why some people get upset, : but at this point I think the ship has sailed. This is going to sound : harsher than I intend, but I see Halo as well-crafted fluff, akin to : something like the movie Inception . There's some clever and interesting : stuff in there, and you can have fun thinking about it, but I'm not : convinced it holds up that well under close scrutiny. : Enjoy it for what it is. I feel it's Bungie's best game since Halo CE, and : while I understand there are narrative choices that don't seem to make a : lot of sense, I'm kind of used to it by now. My mission is to make it better than it is. I think most of it can be worked out. Just don't need the job made harder before it's easier. Reach was a step in making it harder before easier and a month in, I'm starting to smooth those rough edges out. I'm a big fan of the universe. It's probably my favorite fictional universe and at nearly 39 yeas old, I've had more decades invested in Star Trek and Star Wars than many HBOers are old. I get worked up about it because I care about it.
