A Very Bad Idea.

In Response To: Apt. 117 new, on-going animated series (onebitrocket)

(Irate MST3King in italics, after the slightly less irate and more well-thought-out response)

I want an apology. From 343i to its fans, "We're sorry we were wasting time on this, and we're sorry for insulting your intelligence."

Ok, I'm sorry if that was prick-ish, which it probably. But I haven't seen something this out of touch since that Microsoft ad with Bill Gates and Seinfeld. It might not be so insulting if this wasn't coming out right on the tails of the TFoR misprint, Halo Legends, and the clusterscrewup with the Halo Encyclopedia. But it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that people who could have been available to proof-read the TFoR manuscript 343i suckered us into buying were instead getting this prepared.

Given the lukewarm response from the people who've seen the trailer, the best thing to do might be to pay Powerhouse Studios for time and resources, and then pretend this never happened. Sometimes, it's better to admit the mistake and cut losses than go through with the whole thing.

"From the Guys who brought you blahblahblah blablah-blah, comes an underwhelming series... In 2D!"
Underwhelming... ain't that the understatement of the year.

So, we open up from the Halo soundtrack... to a scene of an obese dude in the bath, playing the Halo theme on an empty roll of toilet paper, his gabongo hidden only by the blessed presence of bath bubbles.
"Yeah, guys! This is our fanbase! Ain't it funny?"

Roomate breaks into the bathroom, yells for him to shut up. "It's three in the morning!"
Yeah, ain't the bathwater cold by now? Or are you one of those jerks who drains and fills it up five times a night?

"Hey, man, didn't you hear teh NOOZ?"
Fat guy stands up, his Noob Tube still hidden by bubbles (Thank God, but he's probably got the legs of a Grunt, if he can only stand that tall.) UNSC Marine logo tattooed on his chest, X360 headset jammed firmly on his head (Now, didn't his mommy never tell him not to bring electronics to the bath?) and rolls of fat hanging where rolls of fat usually do and never should.

"Oh, man, I've got to get up and work in four hours."
Yeah, his only complaint to getting the Full Frontal from Mr. 300 is "I've got to get up and work in four hours." Admittedly, such a sight might make it hard to sleep, and would certainly require psychiatric help, so I guess he's thinking in the long term.

"They're making us into a cartoon, baby!"
Grating self-reference humor aside, this is the point where you could have said something insightful. Something inspiring. Something that's good news.
Instead, I guess this is the point where they announce that this thing is getting made. Ho-hum.

"Have you been drinking the mouthwash again?"
"No, but I can name some people who HAVE been. ZING!"

"Yeah... but they're making a show about us."
We heard the first time.

"So, they're making a cartoon about an average guy and his Halo-obsessed idiot roommate?"
Hey! We just integrated the little summary below right into the trailer! We're cutting edge here, folks!

"Could an idiot make a needler out of a nail gun?!"
Apparently, mommy didn't.
Hey, if Ethan Macmanus can make TWO sentient robots and mechanical gauntlets of super strength, it's proof that there's nothing you can't do if you're too stupid to realize it can't be done.
Oh, and full frontal again, folks! C'mon, it was funny on Harold and Kumar!

"I'd cancel that show!"
The voice of reason, truly.
