In Response To: Re: Wait, what? (gunluva) It's a vile, repulsive, ugly word, with a lot of hatred packed into it (much like the n-word). For some reason a lot of people want to try to use it as a generic insult, just like the less-offensive but equally-stupid "that's so gay." But it's hard to believe anyone is really unaware of the bigotry associated with it. Besides, stuff like that is just as offensive even if you don't "intend" it to be. It's like saying it's okay to use the n-word generically because a lot of black people say it and racism is pretty much dead, amirite? I can't help but lose respect for people that try to argue for stuff like that, especially when there are obviously plenty of people hurt/offended/alienated by the derogatory language they insist on using. | |
