I think you misinterpreted what happened, unless there's something else I'm missing. Looking back at the thread, user electrojew posted a response to Voodoo Child's idiotic suicide "prank" saying:

too bad he isnt dead *serious*

no im just kidding, my condolenses to his family

General Vagueness then replied to that, saying:

I knew you were a stupid insensitive troll but I didn't know you were this.

So he actually *attacked* electrojew for saying that -- he never said it himself. I can see how the auto-copying of electrojew's post title in GV's response could give a misleading impression.

Anyway, the comment was posted in a semi-jokey, somewhat confusing way in an already contentious thread when all the focus was on the "pranksters." And the person who posted it hasn't been active in over a year. I wouldn't get too miffed that it didn't get as much ongoing negative attention as one with a blatantly offensive slur in the title.

I understand HBO isn't a daycare and can in fact be pretty abrasive and raunchy. But there's no reason we should accept language that insults and demeans other, unrelated groups. There are plenty of sites that cater to the racist, sexist, homophobic crowd -- especially when it comes to gaming discussion. But they're the people that give gaming a bad name. I figured HBO was above that garbage. Even if it's not outright banned here, it doesn't need to be welcomed, or even tolerated. We choose what kind of community we want to be, and that's not the kind of community I want to see here, ever. And I think most people here would agree.
