You you consider the : Humans divine? Are they Forerunners? Do you worship or revere them? Head spinning in-characterness aside, these are questions which really shouldn't have any single answer. Its a complex issue and opinions really should be massively divided. Not only because its more believable for a species which doesn't have a hive-mind mentality, but also because it allows incredibly more depth and potential stories which we're starting to see creep in now. Some Sangheili plainly still believe in the Forerunners as gods, despite thinking the Great Journey a lie, such as the Shipmaster in Return. That character also plainly regrets his actions during the campaign against humanity and considers it all a dishonour. I found the Return a fascinating insight into the mind set of the character (note, just the character. Not the Sangheili as a whole) and it was interesting to see how deep that regret and shame apparently went when faced with what he had done in service of lies, though not because of any particular reverence to humans. He's still quite willing to apparently torture one for answers and he was certainly not happy to see images of humans tinkering with Forerunner creations. Thel, from what we've seen, seems to have gone full circle, from a devout zealot to a complete non-believer after Guilty Spark told him the ultimate fate of the Forerunners. While he may not revere humans, he acknowledges they are Reclaimers (as do some other Sangheili in Halo 3) and respects them as such. As a Sangheili hero and one of its new leaders, his influence may spread far, but that is not to say all would embrace his new outlook. Some were already curious, sympathetic and even somewhat respectful or admiring of humans while the war still raged, such as N'tho and this is apparently more widespread amongst the Sangheili youth. As these newer generations come of age, the coalition has an improved chance of becoming stronger. The same would likely go for many humans. Hatred can be diluted over time and while actions may never be forgotten, maybe not even forgiven, that does not mean we can never move on. There is all kinds of variations and levels that can be in-between. To want to lump all the Sangheili into one group of one mind, or any Halo race for that matter, is to really limit the fiction and there is really no reason for it. Surely the Halo lore is mature enough to cope with such complexities?
