: That would probably be too cumbersome for gameplay. It would take longer to
: train them, as you would have to wait for a Pelican to slowly fly in from
: off-screen, position itself outside the base, and drop off the troops. If
: you're training multiple troops, then the Pelicans would have to take care
: to avoid overlapping each other, or other air units, and the result isn't
: really worth it.

Very little of the combat we've seen in other Halo games and fiction revolves around a stationary base - every instance in which the UNSC tries to set up a real fortification, it gets blown to pieces. If the gameplay was more mobile, centering not on base building, research, etc., but on unit management in battle and the taking of objectives, my idea would work. As I said, a stylistic issue - Halo Wars is a base-building RTS, not a strategic one.

: I don't really see why this could be an issue. If you give a Spartan a
: regular weapon, then he's not going to do any more damage than a regular
: marine. If you have a Spartan, you might as well give him a weapon that
: allows him to do the most damage. Besides, they do start off with dual
: SMGs.

Spartans move faster, can close to melee combat, are more accurate . . . why is the player in the shooters more worthwhile than the A.I. controlled allies? Because he's faster, more agile, more accurate, etc. As I said, the Spartans are superbly trained tactical combattants, not weapons platforms, and there are ways to represent this in strategy games. It's been done, and fairly well, in other games.

: Well, on the Legendary ending, there's an extra voice clip after the credits,
: but nothing that sheds light on what happens to the crew.

I was informed of this after my initial post. While it is something, it's still a little bit disappointing - but nothing that sheds a negative light on the game itself.
