If the fleet knew its destination, it wouldn't be difficult to find. While I'd acknowledge that finding the planet destroyed would be a bit of a surprise and might throw off search efforts, if Spirit's A.I. is worth the weight of her computer chip, she'd have a distress signal broadcasting throughout the system. Communications travel at lightspeed, and a solar system isn't that big a place.
