Problem with that is that the UNSC could easily break most or all Covenant encryption by 2552 (see the AI Cortana), surely they would have intercepted a bunch of info about the Prophets long before then.

Basically TFOR and the sequels in its series aren't canon anymore, at least not totally. It was nice to try and keep the Covenant this mysterious group of evil aliens, but it makes the Halo universe totally boring to play in whether we're talking games or any other medium. I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or majority but I would rather have the richer Halo universe that Bungie and 343 are creating for us than the one we got in TFOR.
