: What is it about Halo that can't be compromised? I think perhaps you are being a little critical, but I totally agree that of course this isn't the fault of 343 or Frankie exclusively. I agree that Bungie and Nylund have bit a tiny bit careless in places. I do, however, disagree that the "boat has sailed". There is still time, IMO, to explain these things. And I do believe it can be done. The problem is that it hasn't been explained quickly enough and that has meant the fiction has grown around unanswered questions, making it harder and harder to remain cohesive, because eventually it starts falling apart unless the fiction has a solid base to grow around, instead of mystery after mystery. Some things simply need to be explained. And actually, I rather trust 343 to do a good job of doing that, should they choose to. I just hope they do.
