(Leviathan) : Right, that's the thing: Master Chief IS in contact with the UNSC in : Uprising, so why would Hood be surprised to see the Chief in the H2 : cinematic if it takes place after the Uprising events? There seems to be : no clear answer... unless we just don't count Uprising as canon. I believe : Mr. Staten said the games should always be looked at as the top tier of : canon-ness. But Bungie likely has a plausible explanation since Halo 2's cutscene was done well in advance of the Uprising story. We just don't know it yet. And even so, the Chief's line to Hood makes sense even if Hood knew the UNSC had been in contact with him. Hood saw an alien vessel enter near Cairo and was going to destroy it when he found out either (the Chief is on it, or the Chief is still on it).
