My guesses:

a) Cortana's image is apparently reflected in the granite/marble/mottled metal/whatever at the bottom 'frame' of the display image, making her a reflection.
b) The POV of the shot does not show the player's reflection
c) Therefore, I'd guess that the screen we're facing at an angle prevents us from seeing our own reflection (we're standing facing a screen which is in front and to the 'left' rather than dead in front of us, so our own reflection would be visible to someone else standing in front of the screen but farther to our left, so that we are to their 'right'.
d) Similarly, for Cortana's image to be visible to us, she must be standing off to our 'left'. (So she'd 'see' our reflection, if the hologram image of an AI can be said to have 'localized' senses rather than build a gestalt image of surrounding from many different inputs scattered about.)
e) The image of the Halo itself thru a window, and the details of the room also appear to be reflections in the screen.

So the overall layout I'd envision is (sorry in advance for crappy ASCII drawing):

Other observations:

i) Image appears letterboxed, and thus is a screen shot from a movie or cutscene, rather than in-game play? Might help relax those whining that the display didn't look very 'good' in terms of image detail etc. (Movies aren't usually going to be at full game-play resolution and color depth, which on the Xbox won't be as high as on the PC anyway
ii) Halo behind you is pretty neat looking. If visible from a window in the present 'room' then guess that this image is on the Pillar or the escaping smaller frigates/dropship/whatever
