In Response To: Re: MJOLNIR's Ancestor? You decide. (lincoln) : You couldn't have artillery, or heavy weapons on that thing because the : amount of recoil would be too great. Even if it could lift a minigun like : in Predator, firing a minigun generates something like 4 tons of recoil if : I remember correctly. : This is also fairly old, not the post, but this exo-suit. And it was designed : originally as a power loader, not to be used in combat. That's not to say : the military wouldn't like to incorporate the future warrior system into : it. I'm sure a full body armored suit that increases the wearers : survivability, senses, speed, etc would be very useful. I think at this point to label the tech as essentially useless in combat would be jumping the gun to say the least. The technology is extremely early in development, but it doesn't take too much effort to see that it could easily allow soldiers to run faster, jump higher, hit harder, carry on for longer, as well as providing very good levels of protection. It could also easily augment our natural senses. Also, with developments on the biological side of things, it's also not impossible that it would be able to command the machine just by thinking it. Again, the technology for this exists at an early stage. Like most technologies when they are in their infancy, they're not too practical. But they're the stepping stone to something much greater.
