Before they can be autonomous, they need decent A.I., which is a long way coming. Every single unmanned vehicle and device that is used is still controlled by a human operator, just not one who is present on the machine. The best usage I can see for this thing is as a supply loader/unloader. As far as combat is concerned, it's bulky and greatly decreases the stealth of the user. Once they have more discreet versions - perhaps something to the effect of small joints and limbs attached underneath the soldier's clothing, to provide support instead of completely replacing the soldier's own movement . . . a mechanical brace to help carry heavy backpack loads or to lighten the wear of a long march, or something to that effect.
