I mean, it : seems just as simple to me that they would have had a team taking the code : from the PC version of the game, ripping out the networking and throwing : on a form of the XBL Matchmaking that they've had available for other : studios (FASA used the matchmaking code in Shadowrun, afterall.) I know it's absolutely not going in at this point (thanks for the clarification, Wu), but seriously, if it came down to no online multiplayer or online multiplayer using the netcode from Halo PC, I think I'd choose the first option. Halo PC online was fun, don't get me wrong, but Gearbox's online setup for Halo PC was so broken it's not even funny (anyone remember the infamous "Lag over LAN" video?). After playing the 2nd and 3rd installments of the series where the online multiplayer was done so so well, I can't imagine going back to the old system. I'm perfectly fine reserving Halo: CE multiplayer to old school LANs. It's just not the same when you can't throw your plate of nachos across the room and nail the guy who just sniped you.
