In Response To: Wow, I never noticed this. (serpx) The confirmation of the Elite alliance with Humanity is exiting and interesting, but I wonder if the site is intentionally a little short on intricate plot details - although if the detail it goes into about the previous games is indicative of its overall content, then we can assume that the Elites are pretty unified about their defection. The characters covered are interesting, highlighting Johnson but skipping Cmdr. Keys and any other upper-echelon UNSC command while including the prophets. Most of the Covenant retain descriptions straight out of the original manuals except of course the Elites. The Flood are mentioned to be interested in Calcium-based lifeforms - was this in the original manuals? I don't remember it. (I suspect this may be a misstatement, as I am aware of no such concept. Calcium can only form two chemical bonds; carbon, with its + or -4 valence, is the basis of life. Calcium may be important to the Flood, but not the base element.) More straightforwardness on what the Gravemind is (a complex, "evolved" form of hivemind Flood intelligence) and what his aims are (consuming the galaxy) accompanies a lack of a sillhouette, so he may be changing visually. I hope, again, that this is a little too straightforward, and plot twists are pending. Weapons and vehicles include an M6D with a 2x zoom and the returning complement of Halo 2 weapons (Just a note on the particle beam rifle - I'm sure this has been pointed out, but it looks like a mini-cyclotron + a mini linear accelerator for aiming. Perfect for shooting charged particles that travel at near-light speeds with little sound, and maybe an ionizing effect on air for the glowing beam), as well as the announced Spiker and Spartan Laser. The Pelican has no visual, wonder if it's getting an upgrade, and information on the Wraith and Scorpion is lacking, so they may also be tweaked. The Phantom is back, but no Spirit mentioned yet. The Spectre is also lacking. One more story note: it says the Flood are "...a menace the deluded Covenant has reawakened for the second time in a hundred thousand years." I may just be playing with semantics here, but were the Flood reawakened a hundred thousand years ago by the Covenant, and again in Halo: CE? Whatever we, the player, did on Silent Cartographer, or whatever the Marines unlocked, had nothing to do with it? And "reawakened" 100,000 years ago means they were asleep before then. One successful firing when the Covies woke 'em up once doesn't make sense - it means the Forerunner dealt with them without the Halos and the Covenant have already taken and survived the Great Journey once. Must be a mistatement. I look forward to further updates.
