I would've put this into the thread about 30 or 40 posts down regarding the "Halo 3 Image," but I didn't know if anyone would see it, because it's so far down. Anyway, I tried upres-ing the image, but I couldn't do any better than the otehr people who have already tried it. Then it hit me, maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. What if it's the H3 version of a map we already know? I took overviews from Zanzibar and Burial Mounds, crystallized them in Photoshop, and looked for any part that seemed to match the image. It didn't. Then I noticed the two gray areas in the image, it kind of reminded me of Red Base in Coagulation. I cropped Red Base from a map overview, rotated it 90 degrees counter-clockwise, crystallized it, and here's what I came up with.
What strikes me hardest is the light part on the top gray area of each image. They are about the same shape, and in almost the same place. Here's were Occam's Razor might apply most, though. And I know the distances between the Rock Garden and the base are different in each image, but maybe the H3 one was taken froma different angle? As for the color of the rock garden, maybe it changed just like Blood Gulch added a basement for Coagulation.
Or, I could be wrong on all acounts and just looking too far into something.
