True enough. I think what happened with me is got very excited by an idea that they proposed because it was offering something very new (that was arguably later implemented in the Grand Theft Auto games and Mercenaries). They hyped it and raved about how innovative it would be. Remember when JJ was quoted as saying **** death match? Well, I do. I bought into it and believed in them. When the final product came to the public about all it had in common with what had excited me about it in the first place was the art direction. Essentially they had produced Marathon sans the most compelling element of Marathon, Greg's writing! You know how I feel about the story in the first and second Halo so i won't belabor those points. But I came back after hearing the rumors to see if they were true. Somewhere inside, still wanting to believe in them, that they could do something truly great again. Seeing that it was all just a "joke" drives a stake in my heart all over again. I guess I take things like this too personally ^_- Call me cynical. OK, back into my cave. I've got my own kettle on the boiler as well still ;-) j | |
