I don't think anybody's arguing that the focus of Halo - the gameplay itself - has changed over the years; you have only to look back at the Evolution vid to see that. Where we differ is how we interpret what was said then; you seem to see it as a promise by the developers, one which they failed to deliver on several years down the road... and I see it as an initial gameplan that turned out not to work very well - so they changed it. I don't feel like they ever PROMISED the released game would be as it was in 2000, or 1998, or whenever... it was just where they were. Then, a year later, they were somewhere else.
