In Response To: Those funky symbols... (Louis Wu)
Unfortunately I don't have an in-depth knowledge of the Jjaro and their play in the Marathon history and my understanding of advanced mathematics is even worse to say the least:) Is there someone who could elaborate on what the references to the maths implies at the end of the theory other than that the Jjaro were of a highly intelligent order?
Another question which come to mind are why are they of a circular form. If they were some sort of language would they not use more variation of form. If it is language then it would seem the circular 'shell' holds the information much like the mayan glyphs do, giving it structure, but is that the case? They also look mathematical to me...or is that just me? ;) Could they symbolise calculation or numeric information? Like Mike said they 'change' on screen.
They could be representational, in that they symbolise something, possibly a sequence, progression or maybe a series, hence the use on Tanks, Armour and Soldiers, much like rank or the regiments insignia of todays army (not that it is that 'mundane' in this case=).
Just some immediate thoughts, I'm going to have to dig through some pics and the x-box walk through to try and unravel more...
