Well, it's big and aerodynamic as a brick. A not particularly smooth one at that.
I always thought that a droship gets things from up there to down here. And since up there is mostly vacuum, it makes sense to move by thrusters, whereas down here, it should only need to make minor corrections.
I mean, the space shuttle isn't exactly the most agile thing in the skies. You have things like planes, birds, kites, small rocks, that are more maneuverable then it is.
