Inertial Dampeners

I Got into a fairly long argument last night with a friend online about the part of the E3 Halo trailer where the transport spins around rapidly just before the solders get off. He was saying that the force from the sudden G's would has severly hurt them, if not them, then the pilot who would be at the outside of the rotation, therefor experiencing a greater amount of G Force. I was saying that the rotation was swift, but short, so the G forces barely effected the leutenants body.
Anyway, we eventually came to the conclusion that bungie is using some inertial dampeners in the ships, to make the handle better and be more responsive. Any physics majors out there want to give a better answer.
