More thoughts on the E3 trailer... | |

First of all, I thought the trailer was incredible(as have most), and regardless of the recent questions/fears about Halo's release, I still think it will be the most incredible game on the market, even if everything about it isn't state of the art at the time of it's release. (This isn't meant to start a flame war or a really even a discussion at all...just my opinion showing that I still have and will continue to have faith in bungie's abilities, regardless of any Microsoft influence). Anyway, continuing to the main points of my post: 1. The sniper rifle: Very cool effect at the beginning when the marine takes out the two covenant. I liked the vapor trails from the bullets and the delayed report. However, as a sniper rifle, wouldn't it be silenced? No big deal. Actually I really like the idea of the vapor trails. In real game play, and especially network play, no sniper can every be totally hidden. It adds an edge to game play, and may force people to keep moving rather than camping. 2. The voice of the marine: When the trailer was originally debuted at E3, someone who saw it there mentioned that the player's voice sounded rather canned and computer-like. I actually disagree. It seems fairly "human" to me, with the exception that it is cold and emotionless, just what we would expect from this type of solder/war machine. But I like it, because it helps convey the image of the bad-ass that he his. 3. The music: Is it me or was that a new variation of the Halo music? Good stuff. 4. The covenant: Definitely carry themselves as bad-asses. I was especially impressed with the Red Covenant's dismount from his vehicle. Hopefully we will be able to do stuff like that, because image is everything, and we should be able show off like that while we are laying out bodies left and right. :-)
5. The covenant energy blade: Interesting weapon. When the red cov. used it, he impaled the BOB...nice effect. However, when the marine used it, he didn't impale the cov. Is this due to the cov.'s personal sheild? In which case, did it just kill him by removing his sheild power? Can the blade actually penetrate the shield? 6. There is NO 6th thing. (sorry...monty python thing.) 7. Unlocked doors: The one BOB says something along the lines of "There are a lot of unlocked doors for somthing that hasn't been entered in 100,000 years..." I assume this to be foreshadowing to the effect that the covenant are already there. Right? I don't think they are trying to suggest something deeper, but I think the question was brought up when the trailer was originally shown at E3. Anyways, those are my thoughts on the matter. I loved the trailer and can't wait for the game. No doubt that it will rock. ---just writing to see myself type-- |
