Disclaimer: These are my opinions on the E3 Trailer, not in any way related to HBO. If you want to flame, do so by replying.
.) The biggest factor: There is no way in hell that this was run REAL TIME on a 450mhz computer in OpenGL. If it was, it would be by far the most advanced engine ever to appear on ANY console, ANY platform (it beats the snot out of the Quake 3 Engine).
.) AWESOME weather effects!!
.) 0:56 - Why don't the alien's feet sink into the ground like the marines' do?
.) 1:18 - Remember, the marine makes contact with the commander, and the commander acknowleges his existence (to be explained next post).
.) 1:33 - Look at the shadow of the ship. It morphes and bends as the ground does, just like in real life (thanks to IKE, or the inverse kinematics engine).
.) 1:36 - There were 5 marines in the ship, and 6 appear later.
.) 1:54 - Now there's 6 marines.
.) 2:00 - Why did the plane do a 300 degree turn when it could've done a 60?
.) 2:08 - Watch the gun. As soon as the jeep (or that is what I will call it) is dropped, the gun instantly turns 180 degrees and slowly turns back around the way it was supposed to be.
.) 2:15 - Look at the shadows of the marines. Beautiful!!!
.) 2:25 - Kind of choppy gun movement on the jeep.
.) 2:47 - Cool music; suits the atmosphere perfectly.
.) 2:50 - The trees look like trees, not pixels as in most games.
.) 3:02 - For you computer buffs, look at the multitextureing on the water. Repetitive, yet it gets the point across. For those of you not acquainted with "geek terms", look at the pretty water . . . :)
.) 3:08 - If you look back at 1:35, you can see the bridge and there is no part of the planet behind it. Yet now, the "ring" is showing behind it on the horizon.
.) 3:19 - Nice handling on the jeep . . . mine couldn't take turns that fast. I think IKE needs some tweaking (mebbe it's just me).
.) 3:23 - THANK THE MAKER!!! On this shot, there is no lens flare. Why would there be? This is a 3rd person game, not a "flying camera follow the dude everywhere".
.) 3:40 - Judging by the size of the ring on the horizon, it's bigger than Bungie claimed it was.
.) 3:44 - Notice the (for lack of a better term) "thing" right in front of the jeep. It sees it and turns directly into the path of another "thing". Instead of the 2nd "thing" plowing into the 1st "thing", it swervs to miss it. Kudos to IKE.
.) 3:55 - If you notice the antenna, it's much lower than it was in other HALO movies. Retracted? Cut during the re-design? Dunno. If the first, kudos again to IKE.
-I'm tired, so if you would like me to do some more, just reply and say so, and I'll do it when I can. Please reply with flames, agreement, new stuff to add. *yawns* Oh, and Matt, don't rip on me too much :)
