Except that the game failed compared to the original Halo is your opinion, it's not a fact.

As to the tricking issue, there weren't near as many people working on tricks right during Halo's release. So it took stuff a lot longer to be found. And once a trick was posted, no one bothered redoing it and filming it. Now Randall Glass is a household name in the Halo community. He's even got a shoutout in the credits of Halo 2. There's thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands wanting to be him, and getting that kind of recognition. No wonder stuff gets done so much faster.
