In Response To: Legendary Observations (very long, minor *SP*) (mike miller) Well written, Mike. I share most of the opinions with you have (that poor shield... I remember once in Cairo Station, second hangar, I put my guns out to fire at some Grunts, three elites comes around a corner, and before I even react to them being there, I'm dead). I have no opinions for levels after Regret, but that'll come soon. Ok, snipers, it's realistic with snipers if you guard a place, as those bastards do in Regret. It's also realistic that those buggers can aim. What is not good, it that they hurt things a lot more then you do with a beam rifle. I saw this thing becoming real after a sniper tries to shoot at me (must be the second time in the entire Outskirts level that one missed me) and hits a golden Elite in the chest. I hadn't wounded it or damaged it's shields one bit, and it falls dead to he ground... It took me a lot more headshots on said Elite to kill it. I don't even kill grunts with one shot at the chest with the beamie, and then I see in co-op that they can kill my buddy with one shot to the leg... Hunters are awesome now! Sad that I haven't seen any battles in huge areas with them yet (AotCR created those wishes), but they're just the right resistance for me on Legendary. Melee attacks (twisting backwards looks so feakingly cool!) are charms to look at, and their orange area now goes up and down along with the melee, no more no-skill-at-all hunter kills, and the armour of the hunter looks so nice now. Sad thing with the ray it fires now, but I'll learn to like it, I guess. Boss-fights are awkward, semi-fun elements outside the boundaries of reality. Like, tell me, how can a weak and fragile species, who do nothing but sits in a chair and hoovers around, take at least 25 punches to the face delivered by MC... oddness. Lets not forget ten Plasma Rifles that shoot at you, and then dissapear. Drone + Sniper bullet = Pride. I really like the addition of the drones, they bring out more of me as a thinking player (ground troops on fixed positions around me from my eight to my five - clockwise - and drones in the battlefield which I really don't know where they are, tough bugger, eh?). Level design and audio are those bits of Halo 2 where there is not any "good enough" superlatives to use. I really appreciate how hard Bungie must have worked with all the details (the special sound in outer space on Cairo Station just blew me away) to make a realistic enviroment, both with and without enemies and allies in it. I must admit I really liked the Elite sayings in Halo 1, and the lovely "Wort wort wort!". Though, as soon as I heard "Didn't anyone who could fight join your cause?" it was all forgotten. Deaths are... well, odd now. It looked less twisted and more natural in Halo 1 in my opinion. Weapon balancing is awesome, 'nuff said. The Phantoms look better, deploy troops better (it doesn't trap them, at least) and has awesome cannons. It looks so dangerous before you learn to dodge it properly. It is still nice to snipe things that fall out of them, but that is not easy. I hope to see a Legend-style movie using Halo 2, Mike. But, please, don't make my jaw drop too many times, my keyboard is damaged since the day you released Legend 2. -Agony doesn't like Elite Rangers at all... except when he melees them in the back midair, or uses them to gain extra height in grenade jumps. |
