Re: weapon calcs.

In Response To: weapon calcs. (johnconstantine)

: Has anyone ever made any kind of serious cross-section guide to HALO
: including weapon calcs, ship speed, etc? I'm looking specifically for info
: about Super MAC and MAC guns as well as Covenant ships, Archer missiles,
: Shiva Nukes, etc. I plan on making an in-depth cross-section guide to HALO
: similar to the cross-section that's out for Star Wars.

: I have another question in particular: On pg. 283 of "Fall of
: Reach", Nylund stated that the SMAC round travelled at "point
: four-tenths the speed of light".
: This doesn't make much sense. Did he mean .4c or .04c? I have assumed thus
: far that it was a typo and he meant .4c since the Covenant ships are so
: extremely tough, especially since it took the 'Commonwealth' 90 Archer
: missiles, 2 MAC rounds, 1 Shiva nuke and a squad of Longswords to cripple
: (not destroy) a Covenant ship (1/3 it's size no less). I would say that's
: roughly the equivalent of 5 Teratons (roughly).

Well there isnt much info out there about it, but there is a few things here + there:

SHIP MAC ROUND -
Speed: 30,000 m/s = 300km/s (*60 *60) = 1,080,000 km/hr
Source: TFOR - Pg.108 Para2

SUPER MAC ROUND -
Speed: 0.4 * Speed of Light = 0.4 * 299 792 458 m/s = 119916983.2 m/s = 119916.9832 km/s = 431701139.52 km/h
Source: TFOR - Pg.108 Para2
(Note: Speed of light in a VACUUM)

So....

Ship Mac round travels at 1,080,000 km/hr
Super Mac round travels at 431,701,139 km/hr (eep, try stopping that thing - no wonder it tore the **** out of the covenant so easily, its over 400x faster than reg. mac lol, beast)

Cheers,
