While I completely approve of the Aleph One effort, it doesn't really seem like the most efficient use of resources if the goal is to keep Marathon playable. I think most of the people working on AO (not that I'm one of them) are doing it for fun/experience rather than trying to extend the the lifetime of Marathon, after all THEY'VE all played through the Marathon Trilogy.

If you want Marathon to last another dozen years my advice is to build a utility to automatically convert the maps into your favorite current generation fps engine. I know people have started projects to do this, but to my knowledge they were always reworkings rather than simple batch conversions. It would be a lot of work, but far less than has been put into Aleph One at this point...
