In Response To: Re: Completely Agree (Steve Levinson)

: My wish list would be: 1) A stable final release

Agreed.

: 2) Full implementation of network play (an absolute must)!

Agreed.

: 3) Incorporation of the Bridges and Balconies code to allow software
: rendering of OpenGL effects on older machines
: 4) Incorporation of high-resolution textures in the Shapes file (rather than
: as a separate folder of graphic files), ala Bridges & Balconies

I think this would be one of the differences between the compatible and advanced versions. The compatible version would only need to support what Infinity did (standard shapes file, Forge-level geometry). The advanced version would have B&B support and a completely new shapes system that does not depend on the old Shapes file at all.

: 5) Support for SDK-compatible maps on the Mac platform.

Yes, as well as maps originally made for M2/95 and Marathon 1.

: In M1, the task is particularly
: difficult as terminal text must be patched into the original app.

It wouldn't be that hard to make A1 look elsewhere for resources. That's all the patch is, the terminals are stored there in the same resources as they would be in the app.
