I mean, Viking does still have a point. Emulation only gets us so far with bugs and/or the ease of actually getting it running being primary problems, plus an official multi-platform port could even bring even more eyes on the OG version of the game like the Steam ports of Marathon without needing to rely on just PID Aleph One all the time.
It's like since Half Life 2 was updated to restore many of the missing better graphics (though it's still missing certain sounds like underwater ambience) from the 2006 version for the 20th Anniversary, I don't necessarily need my 2006 SDK Half Life 2 running as a sourcemod anymore. Or Marathon Recompiled vs the OG Xbox 360 game on Xenia.
