Having the texts show up and then disappear (which is saved in the console) is a good compromise.
I'm impressed you finangled a way to get the dialogue system working, and surprised that they aren't terminals. (unless you're using terminal text pages in this somehow? I'd like to know how you did it)
I also love that you kept the old mac look of the original loading menu.
Here's a lulzy idea: what if total carnage made save runes only work once?
I never thought hard about those level names; the only noticeably trollish names were Got a Light? and Wrong Way! How early is the first guy that tells you to conserve ammo? Some might not think to check the body on ground floor and be stuck wit hthe knife anyway, but if they do get the walther, there's a 50/50 chance of going up the right latter to the yellow crystal, probably firing away until they get a clue.
