Also, while I'm sure you've got more lua running than Aleph One particularly enjoys executing, you could also do what you suggested I do with M1 lava - raise the floor in idle and lower it in postidle! Of course it would have to start raised for collision to work, but that might do it.
One thing I've noticed whilst fiddling around is that solid lines, while they do what you want them to most of the time, they don't reliably keep the player from crossing them. Ledges might be more reliable.
