The map is never going to look the same anyway, so that's probably as good as it's going to get. If I make all solid lines dark brown, a bunch of lines show up that wouldn't normally be on the map. I had to use solid lines in front of all the pillars, so if you walk along them, you slide along them nicely instead of getting stuck. I tried it with the solid lines being darker brown and decided it didn't look right. I agree with you that it's sometimes hard to tell if you've reached the end of the path the way it currently is though. I don't really know that I can do anything about that. I don't want to replace negative space with more polygons, because some maps already have a ton of polygons (I had to use some extra polygons to prevent bouncy walls). Also if every map is just a giant grid of open space, performance will be bad. : I don't know if it's possible to display an image on the map with Lua, but if
Your idea with the legend is good, I can probably add that. : I am mildly, but only mildly, disappointed that the inventory dialogues are
I'm not going to go through the trouble of doing all that. I guess if someone cared enough to make new images, I'd be open to using them instead.
