In Response To: Re: I escaped the pyramid without a lead box (VikingBoyBilly) : It's something called NOSTALGIA and an irrational, emotionally-driven
Nostalgia is the reason I wanted to make this port in the first place, so I understand that. However, the horrible UI of PiD is not one of the things I feel any attachment to at all, and it's certainly not something I miss when playing the Aleph One port. : But if you want a practical reason, you can resize and move around each
You're making the assumption that the information in those windows is even relevant. Do you really need a log of the last 10 monsters you stepped over taking up 20% of your screen real estate at all times? No. Do you need your inventory taking up a large part of your screen when you're not actually doing anything with your inventory? No. Do you need your points, treasure information, and weapon proficiencies showing up at all times? No. You can check it occasionally as needed. Your game window should be focused on the game when you're actually playing. So if you get rid of irrelevant information on your screen, you no longer have to ask the question of where the information should show up, and therefore, the ability to move them around suddenly doesn't matter.
